With my nature and decay shots i was trying to enhance the main focus of the picture, to make it seem more interesting and attractive. This was the set of images where i felt that i had the most freedom to create and experiment with Photoshop. So I tried a lot of different processes in Photoshop This was not just applying filters but actually trying detailed techniques that required many steps. For my school brochure images i needed them to look professional to show the school in a good light. I made sure that the brochure also had information in it, which would make the school look more interesting and make people favour that school.
The thing i enjoyed the most was probably taking the images and then using my photoshop skills, and YouTube tutorials to edit and enhance my images. I didn't have a lot of experience with Photo editing, but after following online tutorials by Sir, I have managed to get to a decent standard although I understand that there is stil a lot more to learn. The thing i enjoyed the least was all the writing, such as annotation, brainstorming and evaluating as they are very time consuming and plain. Even though I know this is important, it still can't compete with taking and learning about Photoshop. I think this image is my least favourite image (on the left), as it was very difficult to edit and was taken at a strange angle which made it very awkward to crop and look interesting. However the professional image (on the right) makes the image look bright, interesting and has been taken at the right angle. This profesional image has been edited in a very good way which means that it attracts people's eye and makes them want to look at the image closer, which is what my image doesn't do. My image wasn;t taken with the right approach. In hindsight I think that I could have waited until we stopped the coach an got out so that I could have gotten a better composition. The professional image they have waited for the sky and light to be just right. This highlights the case for the light being the most important factor of the image. I have learnt that it is not just a case of 'getting a shot' of the subject as this is just a snap shot, a proper photograph has good composition. Saying that, a lot of documentary photography has to taking in a snapshot way as you can;t always set up a composition.
I think this is my favourite image (left), as it is a very simple, but effective image as it has a range of different tones, colours and textures. I like this image as it attracts the eye and shows something people in Paris would probably take for granted, but tourists would be very interested in. Compared with the professional image (right) , i think it works well as my image looks alot warmer and brighter than the professional one.
I found it very easy to improve my skills as a photographer as i learnt how to take photos that look more professional and gained confidence which made my photos look better. This made my photos look better as it made them look more interesting and different to other images. I used many things to improve my skills on Photoshop such as YouTube tutorials, my teachers help and asking other people in the class how i could improve my images. This improved my images and skills as it let me know what other people thought and what they knew to do. I used 3 different ways to present my images. I made a slideshow for my nature and decay images, i made a brochure for my school images and i made a collage for my photo essay. I did this so that my images would be presented in a professional way and this made sure it caught the eye of my audience. To gain feedback for my images i used Freedback, an online questionnaire, which let me make my own questions and i could then get people to fill it in very easily and quickly. It also sent me an email when people had done the questionnaire.
